Mom and Dad LOVED going to some of  the Orchards around Fairfield County  in  the Fall! They Did enjoy going everywhere Together! Mom Loved to Bake and WE  LOVED eating it Too!  This poem is about  a visit  to
"The Apple Farm"
"The Apple Farm"

Just you visit an apple farm,
On a cold and snowy day.
Just you try it, and you'll find,
It will make you bright and gay!

You'll find Winesaps and McIntosh,
For making apple pies.
Yellow and Red Delicious,
To brighten children's eyes.
Jugs of golden Cider,
Sitting here and there.
Rich brown Apple Butter,
Made with special care.
And the people, at the farm,
are such nice, friendly folks.
We count this as a Blessing,
Our Dear God Invokes.

Here is a recipe that My Family Loves!!
"Apple Dumplings"

1 1/2 Cups sugar
1 1/2 Cups water
1/4 teaspoon cinn.
6 to 10 drops of red food coloring
3 tablespoons butter or margarine

Combine sugar, water, cinn and food coloring; bring to boiling. Remove from heat; add butter.

2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
2/3 cup shortening
1/2 cup milk
6 medium apples, peeled and sliced thin

Combine dry ingredients, cut in shortening till mixture resembles course crumbs. Add milk all at once and stir just until flour is moistened.

On lightly floured surface, roll about 1/4 inch thick into 18x12-inch rectangle. Cut into 6 inch squares. Place sliced apples in each square. Sprinkle each generously with sugar, cinn, and dot with butter.  Fold in corners  to center and pinch edges together.

Place in 9x13 inch ungreased baking pan. Pour the syrup over dumplings; sprinkle with sugar.

Bake at 375 for 35 minutes, or until apples are done. Serve with milk or cream, or plain!!!
Makes 6 servings.

Mine are usually done in 35 minutes and I use sugar VERY GENEROUSLY but, I would!!!

Lyrics To "Breathe"

This is the air I breathe
This is the air I breathe
Your Holy Presence living in me

This is my daily bread
This is my daily bread
Your very Word spoken to me

And I, I'm desperate for You
And I, I'm lost without You
