Yellow pumpkin on the ground,
Neath corn stalks, straight in rows around.
Shading out the light of day,
As on the ground, the pumpkin lay.
Waiting there to make the scene,
Come scary, chilling Halloween.
Or maybe in a pumpkin pie,
Thanksgiving treat for you and I.
Or maybe to be picked with care,
And shown at the county fair.
Yellow pumpkin on the ground,
Making not the slightest sound.
